Description
This necklace features a symmetrical design, alternating large beads of Snowflake Obsidian with small beads of white Agate. The Obsidian has a gorgeous grey pattern; some say it is ash from the volcanic eruption in which the obsidian was formed! It certainly looks like it. It pairs charmingly with the snow white Agate. It is cut on a facet to catch the light, and is a great contrast for a classy look.
Round Silver toggle clasp.
Approx 20″ / 50cm long. This is a ‘matinee’ necklace and will sit just below the collarbone. It is great for both business and casual wear, transitioning between the two easily. The matinee necklace length is great for a high collar or a turtleneck; I can see it with a pale or brightly coloured high neck dress.

Born into aristocracy in 1729, ‘Sophie’ found herself married to the heir to the throne of Russia. It was a marriage of disappointment and humiliation, but she spent the time developing her intelligence and gained fame and support for her quick wit, considerable charm and extraordinary energy, despite being ‘a woman of little beauty’. After her husband assumed the throne she used her support (and her lovers!) to put herself in power, being crowned in 1762 under the title of Catherine II.
With her ministers she reorganised the administration and law of the Russian Empire and extended Russian territory by over 200,000 square miles. Her reign spanned 34 years as empress of Russia, the country’s longest-ruling female leader. Whether you loved her or hated her, you can’t help but admire her tenacity and determination.
